Global Children and Youth Safety Policy
Purpose
This policy sets baseline controls for children, teens, students and youth-facing features across countries and app stores.
Required controls
- Determine whether the product is directed to children, likely accessed by children, mixed audience or adult-only.
- Use proportionate age assurance or age-gating where required.
- Obtain verifiable parental consent when required.
- Disable behavioral advertising, sale/share, unnecessary profiling and precise location for children where required.
- Provide parent/guardian rights workflows and account deletion.
- Apply child safety content moderation and reporting.
- Use age-appropriate language and defaults.
- Review school/student data, health data, social features, random chat, anonymous chat, livestreaming, direct messaging and AI companions before launch.
App-store gates
Children/family/kids categories require stricter privacy, content, ads, permissions, policy and parental control review. The product must not include undisclosed data collection, manipulative design or unsafe social/AI features.
